Family Faith Formation

Grades 1-5

Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.
Proverbs 22:6

Family Faith Formation is a dynamic program where both parent/guardians and children will learn and grow together in their faith through both home and church catechesis.  It is not your typical drop off program.  We are building our faith community one family at a time!

The mission of Family Faith Formation is to help parents/guardians respond to the Church's call to be "the first and foremost educators of their children."  Our purpose is to aid families as they grow in their love and knowledge of the Catholic Faith.

The Family Faith Formation program is designed to enrich both the child and parent/guardian in their faith.  Parents and students will gather once a month in the Church for prayer and announcements.  Students will be dismissed to their age appropriate classrooms where they will receive formal catechesis with a leader.  Parents will remain in the Church and listen to a presentation on the same topic.  These shared learning experiences spill over into the family's everyday life as they open the doors to discussion of the Catholic Faith and begin to live and breathe the life of the Church.  There is an additional session for Grades 1 and 2.  Grade 1 will learn basis catechesis and Grade 2 will practice various aspects of sacramental prep in the church which is unavailable during the first session.

After our monthly gathering, parents/guardians and children will receive their take home lessons to learn and discuss as a family for the remaining weeks of the month.  These lessons take about one hour a week; they are fun and easy to navigate and they bring the family together in their faith.  "The right and duty of parents to give education is essential, original, and primary, and it is irreplaceable and incapable of being entirely delegated to others." Familaris Consortio, 36

An integral part of our children's faith formation is participation in Sunday Liturgy.  Sunday liturgy reinforces the family packets.  While attending classes is important for learning the practical knowledge of our Catholic teachings, faith should also be experienced.  To be part of the parish family, to worship together each Sunday is to be part of faith in action.  We expect that you will give your child both experiences - classroom and Church - so that he/she wil be encouraged to practice and live his/her faith.
